ARE THESE 4K SECURITY SYSTEMS WIRELESS?

No. As most of our 4K security systems have more than 4 cameras, if they were to be wireless there would likely be interference and lag issues. To ensure an interference free experience and give you the option not to use W-Fi, our 4K Security Systems are a wired connection between the cameras and DVR.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 4K (8 MEGAPIXEL) AND 2K (4 MEGAPIXEL)?

8 megapixel, also referred to as 4K resolution, is double the clarity of a 4 megapixel (2K resolution) security camera! By investing in 4K resolution, the amount of pixels in your image is doubled, which gives you superior detail and allows for a higher quality, undistorted zoom.

CAN I ALLOW OTHER PEOPLE TO VIEW MY NVR REMOTELY?

Yes. You can share your Defender Empower App access with up to 20 additional users. Each user must download the Defender Empowerment App and create their own account before sharing access.

HOW MANY HOURS OF RECORDED FOOTAGE CAN THE SENTINEL NVR STORE?

Recording time varies depending on the size of the hard drive, the number of cameras you have connected, and your recording schedule. Once your NVR is full, older footage will be overwritten to ensure you never stop recording.

NS8MP1T8B8 & NS8MP2T16B16: Up to 10 days of continuous 4K Recording

CAN I VIEW MY LIVE OR RECORDED FOOTAGE FROM A WEB BROWSER?

No. We do not offer web viewing. You can view the footage from the free Defender Empower App with compatible iOS/Android smart phones/tablets, and through a TV or monitor connected to the NVR.

IS SENTINEL COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER DEFENDER CAMERA SECURITY SYSTEM?

No. The Sentinel security system is not compatible with other Defender security systems. Only Model numbers that start with NS are compatible.

CAN I EXTEND MY CAMERA’S ETHERNET CABLE?

Yes. You can extend each camera to a maximum of 180 feet. We recommend using Defender’s certified authentic and genuine Ethernet cable when doing so.
